The Centre technologique en aérospatiale (CTA) is a nonprofit applied-research and technology-transfer centre affiliated with Cégep Édouard-Montpetit at École nationale d’aérotechnique in Longueuil. Founded in 1993, it helps aerospace companies move from a technical problem to a prototype, test method or manufacturing process. Its disciplines span composites, nondestructive inspection, machining and metrology, robotics, artificial intelligence, aircraft systems and alternative propulsion.
CTA combines material characterization and industrial equipment with project-specific engineering. Examples include porosity reference panels for aerospace OEMs, QIF metrology work for Pratt & Whitney Canada, machining-analysis tools for DCM and Nétur, and a robotic inspection system developed with L3Harris. Its separate aircraft-systems work covers instrumentation, structural monitoring, modifications and ground/flight tests.
The hybrid/electric propulsion bench entered service in 2026, with Pratt & Whitney Canada as its first industrial user. CTA also participates in NATO DIANA’s test-centre network and announced independent composite-inspection validation work with SINTEG in August 2026. Each engagement has its own test configuration, approval basis and maturity; research-network membership does not itself qualify a customer’s technology.
CTA works through scoped industrial R&D, technical-assistance and prototype-validation engagements. Its portfolio records delivered porosity reference panels, P&WC metrology decision tools and DCM/Nétur machining-analysis software; other work remains at proof-of-concept or development stage. The Nucleom mobile-inspection project used a simulated ultrasonic probe, while CTA’s internal lifting UAV demonstrated lift and handling functions without a published operational payload or regulatory envelope.
Aircraft work also has a defined approval boundary. CTA reports Cessna experimental flight permits and Piper modifications, but Transport Canada lists ÉNA as holder of AMO 25-23 for specified Cessna/Piper aircraft, avionics installations and sheet-metal work. A prospective project should agree the test configuration, acceptance basis, booking, data/IP and security terms. Published funding-navigation and SME diagnostic routes can support project formation; they do not guarantee a grant or access slot.
CTA operates at 5555 rue de l’ÉNA, Longueuil, Québec J3Y 0Y3, in the airport-zone ecosystem associated with École nationale d’aérotechnique. It reports 30,000 square feet of its facilities plus privileged access to more than 270,000 square feet of ÉNA space. The shared campus access is distinct from CTA-owned capacity.
Longueuil, Québec is the published city-level context for Centre technologique en aérospatiale. It does not imply a street address or exact facility location.
Open the mapCTA provides a Canadian route to reduce technical uncertainty before an aerospace product or process enters a larger qualification or production program. Its value lies in combining materials, inspection and industrial engineering with aircraft-system tests and a commissioned propulsion cell. Named customer work and joint technical papers make that offer assessable, while the ÉNA approval boundary, project-specific acceptance and developing autonomous functions determine what a new partner can rely on. A useful first step is a scoped test plan covering configuration, deliverables, access and rights to the resulting evidence.

In August 2026, SINTEG announced that CTA would independently test and validate its composite-inspection technology and supply representative structures under DIANA’s TEVV mechanism. The work is an announced R&D partnership; completed validation and adoption are not reported. This follows the July 2026 service announcement for CTA’s hybrid/electric propulsion bench, with Pratt & Whitney Canada as first industrial user.
CTA and Longueuil describe the hybrid/electric propulsion-bench project as exceeding C$17 million, with C$13.63 million in combined federal and Québec support. CED agreement 600070281 is a non-repayable ARRI contribution: its original C$6,012,823 became C$7,585,643 in the July 2023 amendment, with the latest disclosed February 2025 amendment extending the projected end to August 31, 2025. These are project funding figures and successive disclosures of one agreement, not additive awards, CTA revenue or CEL’s equipment price.
Nonprofit research and technology-transfer organization affiliated with Cégep Édouard-Montpetit. Its published board brings together industry, academic and government representatives.
Test centre
Sponsor or operator: NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic
Organization role. National Defence named Centre technologique en aérospatiale among the Canadian test centres joining the NATO DIANA network in March 2024.
Program. NATO DIANA connects selected dual-use innovators with specialist testing facilities and expertise across its test-centre network.
The bench is in service with a named first industrial user; the published 2 MW envelope does not establish a booking or test-specific instrumentation package.
ÉNA holds AMO 25-23 with defined aircraft, avionics and sheet-metal ratings, while CTA reports project-specific permits and modifications.
CTA supports custom research and funding pathways; the public material does not state universal project IP, data or security terms.
SINTEG describes planned independent validation through TEVV, while other portfolio entries range from delivered tools to proofs of concept.
These records support the organization, its owned capabilities and their reviewed connections. A source count is not a count of independent confirmations.
