CTA provides project-specific R&D testing of combustion, hybrid and electric aviation powertrains up to 2 MW. The service includes configurable high- and low-frequency data acquisition and support for lower-carbon thermal-engine development or fuel adaptations, including SAF.
The hybrid/electric bench was publicly announced in service in July 2026, with Pratt & Whitney Canada as first industrial user and CEL as designer/manufacturer. Earlier installed-equipment tests in 2024 do not establish the same completed service state. Test acceptance and qualification remain specific to the engine, configuration and applicable approval basis.
