Historical enabling-power assessment for the retired LEUNR concept: LEUNR's stated Arctic and remote-power posture could enable sustained operation of northern sensing and communications sites, although the reactor itself is an enabling power system rather than an awareness sensor. This is not a current deployment claim or a match assigned to POLAR-1.
A mature orbital quantum-gravimetry system could contribute a distinct geophysical layer for remote northern terrain and resource characterization; this is a derived potential because QASM remains development-stage.
Company
Vancouver, British Columbia
Aero Geometrics is a Vancouver geomatics company offering aerial and ground surveys, airborne and terrestrial LiDAR, photogrammetry, digital mapping, orthophotos and hyperspectral imagery. Its current company profile also includes underground mapping and volumetric calculations. The business dates its incorporation to 1975 and describes itself as Canadian owned and operated. The service extends from measurement to a usable mapping or engineering product. The company describes stereoscopic photogrammetry using triangulated images and reference points, with measured vectors, breaklines and elevation points forming terrain-model meshes. GPS/IMU-controlled RGB or RGBI imagery is georeferenced and assembled into orthophotos. Laser-scanning workflows produce registered point clouds that can be developed into CAD or Revit models for structures and services. A customer-side technical report for Kodiak's MPD project documents a completed 2025 high-resolution airborne LiDAR survey by Aero Geometrics. The resulting elevation model was used to adjust drill-collar elevations. This provides a named example of an acquired and used geospatial deliverable, distinct from the company's hyperspectral offering: the report does not describe a hyperspectral survey or establish its sensor configuration.
Spectral and geospatial survey products could inform environmental characterization in northern areas. This is a derived use case, with no verified Arctic deployment or current hyperspectral configuration.
Company
Vaughan, Ontario
QEYnet is an Ontario quantum-communications company developing compact satellite quantum-key-distribution receivers and free-space Earth-to-space key exchange for secure satellite communications.
Satellite-enabled key distribution could support secure long-distance communications to remote northern sites, subject to optical-link availability and successful orbital demonstration.
Company
Ottawa, Ontario
GBatteries Energy Canada is an Ottawa battery-technology company developing adaptive charging controls and lithium-metal cells for high-energy, fast-charging applications including cold-weather uncrewed systems.
The DIANA cold-weather charging focus may be relevant to persistent northern uncrewed operations, but field performance and operational integration are not established.
Company
Toronto, Ontario
Tightbeam Photonics is a Toronto photonics company developing compact, deployable optical ground stations and integrated photonic receivers for high-capacity laser communications between space and ground.
Deployable optical ground stations could increase high-capacity downlink options for northern sensing missions where terrestrial backhaul is constrained; weather availability and operational integration remain unverified.
Company
Delta, British Columbia
Kîsik GeoSpatial is a Delta, British Columbia aerial-survey company delivering end-to-end airborne acquisition, processing and analytics, including full-spectrum VNIR-SWIR hyperspectral imagery.
Kîsik GeoSpatial's commercial spectral collection, imagery access or analytics could help distinguish materials and environmental conditions across remote northern areas where conventional imagery is insufficient.
Company
Calgary, Alberta
ITRES Research Limited is a Calgary company that designs and manufactures airborne, UAV, ground and emerging space hyperspectral imagers and also delivers commercial hyperspectral and thermal survey data.
Spectral imaging could complement northern environmental and material mapping within Canada’s broader northern surveillance objectives. Airborne collection, daylight and atmospheric conditions, platform limits and validation requirements constrain the assessment; no Arctic qualification or procurement fit is established.
Company
Edmonton, Alberta
See material and environmental differences that conventional imagery can miss. Edmonton-based Wyvern provides commercial hyperspectral satellite data for monitoring, analysis, and peace-and-security uses.
Commercial hyperspectral imagery can add shareable, unclassified environmental and site-monitoring data to northern awareness workflows, subject to collection availability and mission-specific analytics.
Company
North Vancouver, British Columbia
West Coast Canadian marine prime providing government-ship construction, complex-vessel design integration, conversion, refit, repair, lifecycle maintenance, electronic-systems integration, and program services for naval, coast guard, research, and commercial fleets.
Icebreakers and science vessels can carry personnel and sensors that support northern presence and observation, but the shipbuilding capability is an enabling platform rather than an awareness system.
Company
Pointe-Claire, Quebec
MPB Communications is a Pointe-Claire photonics company that designs and manufactures optical amplifiers, fibre lasers, sensors and payload technologies for telecommunications, space, defence and scientific applications.
Higher-capacity CubeSat laser communications could support remote-sensing data movement from northern missions, but weather availability, ground-segment integration and operational use are not documented for this project.
Company
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy combat-vessel shipyard, responsible for design transition, construction, systems integration, testing, delivery, and industrial coordination for Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships and River-class Destroyers.
Ice-capable patrol ships provide a platform for northern presence and surveillance, while actual awareness outcomes depend on embarked sensors, missions, and operational tasking.
Company
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
Connect teams and communities where distance, weather, and sparse infrastructure make conventional networks difficult. SSi Canada designs, builds, operates, and supports satellite, broadband, wireless, and last-mile systems from the North.
Remote-area network design and operation can provide the communications backbone needed to move sensor, operational, and coordination data across northern environments.
Company

Rocket Lab Space Systems Canada is the Toronto satellite-components operation of Rocket Lab, producing reaction wheels and star trackers and developing larger, more radiation-resilient attitude-control hardware.
Reaction wheels are enabling components for stable pointing of Earth-observation and communications satellites, but the public Canadian project is not tied to an Arctic sensor, constellation or mission.
