About Gastops
Gastops is an Ottawa-headquartered Canadian technology company that provides machinery condition monitoring, oil and wear-debris sensing, diagnostic and prognostic analytics, maintenance services, and component-support solutions for defence, aerospace, naval, energy, and industrial equipment.
Operating context
Gastops provides two complementary wear-debris workflows. MetalSCAN monitors particles continuously in a lubricating-oil stream, using debris trends and diagnostic models to support maintenance decisions for engines, gearboxes and bearings. ChipCHECK instead analyzes collected debris at the maintenance site using laser spectroscopy to identify composition, size and quantity; an optional service agreement adds historical records and reporting. Aircraft, wind and marine/industrial MetalSCAN variants have different installation roles. The May 2026 F135 announcement reports validation of ChipCHECK for that engine application, which is more specific than a general claim of aerospace suitability. Operators still need to connect measurements to the approved maintenance process and equipment-specific diagnostic limits.
