Hawboldt Industries is a Nova Scotia designer and manufacturer of marine launch-and-recovery systems, winches, cranes and deck equipment for defence, ocean-science, offshore and polar operations.
Operating context
Hawboldt integrates marine-equipment design, mechanical and hydraulic/electrical engineering, machining, fabrication, assembly, factory acceptance testing and lifecycle support at its Chester, Nova Scotia facility. Its LARS catalogue spans custom 1.5–25 tonne configurations with optional active heave compensation, vessel-specific freeboard and control requirements.
Two separate programmes now provide concrete buyer context. The September 2026 Polar Max announcement covers a turnkey science-mission package above C$15 million, including research winches, moonpool and deck handling, cranes, controls and power equipment. Davie independently names Hawboldt as a supplier; the vessel’s planned 2030 delivery does not establish equipment acceptance.
