ASI Group is an Ontario underwater engineering, inspection and survey company operating a large fleet of configurable ROVs for rapid-response ship, dam, tunnel, pipeline, port and submerged-infrastructure work.
Operating context
ASI’s underwater work combines surface-controlled sonar/video survey, divers, ROV intervention and owner-coordinate GIS/CAD outputs. Supplier tunnel examples distinguish 14 km tether distance from sonar dimensional/position accuracy; INS drift and acceptance budgets are project-specific. WireScan is wire-guided laser gate metrology with still-water, visibility, current and clearance limits, independently corroborated as an HQ commercialization arrangement. Biofouling monitoring/control is a separate Sarnia-managed function with system-specific treatment/permit requirements. Construction and ROV grout work have configured access/tooling limits; Ponce depth figures conflict. DNV’s Stoney Creek approval covers diver in-water surveys through February 20, 2027. ABS diver UWILD scope does not confer universal ROV approval, while LR and ISO remain certificate/site/procedure-specific. Metro Vancouver’s award and BC Hydro payments establish distinct buyer stages without method acceptance. ROSE development, ROSEbud intervention and the current defence exploration grant are separate.
