Capability profile
CPI's GaNLink family provides solid-state RF power amplification and optional block upconversion for satellite-ground transmit chains. The 40 W saturated models are the SA46KOA SSPA and SB46KOA BUC. The SSPA accepts Ka-band RF for amplification; the BUC incorporates conversion from a lower-frequency input before amplification.
MKT-485 Revision 2, dated February 2025, gives waveform-dependent linear ratings. It specifies 25 W under defined 5 Msps modulated-signal and spectral-regrowth conditions, 20 W at 30–31 GHz for a two-tone test with -25 dBc IMD3 under MIL-STD-188-164B, and 16 W under the stated noise-power-ratio test. These operating points preserve the distinction between saturated output and usable linear output for a particular signal.
The SA46KOA is offered for 27.5–31 GHz or 27.5–30 GHz input and output. The SB46KOA table lists selectable dual-, tri- or quad-band operation in 1 GHz bands across 27.5–31 GHz, a 27.5–30 GHz wideband option, and a 30–31 GHz single-band option. Its listed input options are 950–1950, 1250–3750 and 1000–2000 MHz; the exact input/output combination needs to follow the selected configuration.
The datasheet specifies 63–69 dB gain, Ethernet and serial monitoring/control, BMIP and Keyline support, and optional redundancy switching. Outdoor operation uses forced-air cooling and a hot-swappable fan, with an IP66 enclosure. The stated -40°C to +60°C operating specification applies after 30 minutes of continuous operation, with altitude derating also specified. Listed shock and vibration regimes describe test requirements rather than a blanket military certification.
Separate 80 W and 160 W GaNLink siblings have their own power and linearity ratings. The named 2022 Lightspeed selection concerned the 160 W BUC and planned Georgetown production; it does not establish that every current family member is manufactured in Canada.
These describe the reviewed application scope, not confirmed deployments, released requirements or procurement eligibility.
Documented commercial product family with current model-specific electrical and environmental specifications. The 40 W models differ from higher-power siblings and historical vacuum-electron products. The 2022 Lightspeed selection concerns 160 W BUCs; current production responsibility and accepted deliveries remain product- and programme-specific.
CPI publishes current SSPA/BUC documentation and provides quotation and support routes. Specify the model, frequency conversion, waveform and linearity requirement, environmental conditions and redundancy option; confirm the applicable Canadian workshare.
A technology readiness level is not established by the reviewed public sources.
No reviewed Mission area or released Defence need connection is currently published.
These records support this capability and its published Mission area and Defence need connections. A source count is not a count of independent confirmations.
