How it works
AirBoss combines custom elastomer formulation and rubber manufacturing with finished protective equipment and vibration-management products. Its Kitchener Compound Technology Centre develops and troubleshoots formulations through mixing, mechanical testing, analysis and process adjustment. Published equipment includes dynamic mechanical analysis, rheometry, microscopy and thermal/spectroscopic methods, allowing material behaviour and processing problems to be investigated rather than treated only as finished-part defects.
The MALO overboot is a specific defence product within that broader materials portfolio. Its sheet describes seamless bromobutyl construction, S–XXL sizes and a size-L pair weighing 1.19 kg. The supplier states a 15-year shelf life and an operating range of −45 to +70°C, and claims up to 24 hours of protection against chemical/biological agents and a range of toxic industrial chemicals; the passage does not give agent-by-agent conditions. A separate September 2025 EU declaration identifies the Acton Vale manufacturer and a defined footwear/chemical-protection conformity route, including EN ISO 20347:2012, EN 13832-3:2018 and SATRA type examination.
The Low Burden Mask is a different configuration and supply-channel question. The US storefront describes a bromobutyl facepiece, silicone inner mask, polycarbonate lens, 40 mm NATO-thread canister interface and optional drinking system. Its size-L weight is 500 g without a filter. That storefront explicitly excludes Canadian availability and notes US export controls; a Canadian programme must use the appropriate contracting route and agreed mask/filter combination.
Canadian site evidence is substantial but scoped: Kitchener has a rubber design/manufacturing quality-system certificate and accredited rubber-test methods, while Acton Vale has a separate quality-system scope covering industrial rubber and military/first-responder products. Those scopes support industrial capability without substituting for the protection test report or acceptance criteria of a selected product. The existing portfolio also includes rubber-moulded and anti-vibration components for automotive and equipment applications.
Technical detail
Core features
- Custom rubber formulation, mixing, materials analysis and process troubleshooting
- Seamless bromobutyl MALO overboots, with a defined EU footwear and chemical-protection declaration
- Low Burden Mask respirators with replaceable-canister interfaces and related accessories
- Rubber-moulded and anti-vibration products
- Separate Canadian quality-system and laboratory scopes for Kitchener and Acton Vale
Use & integration
Recorded applications
- Military and first-responder protection
- Industrial custom elastomer requirements
- Automotive and equipment vibration management
These describe the reviewed application scope, not confirmed deployments, released requirements or procurement eligibility.
Evidence of maturity
Established materials and product manufacturing, with site-specific quality and laboratory scopes, a defined MALO conformity declaration and disclosed protective-product orders. Performance, call-ups and delivery acceptance remain tied to the selected product and contract.
Commercial availability
Custom rubber and protective products are offered through group businesses. CanadaBuys lists an RCMP gas-mask/accessory standing offer through March 2028. The US LBM storefront excludes Canada; that channel restriction should not be confused with the Canadian standing-offer route.

Supports: Capability · summary
AirBoss dates its business to 1989, lists TSX:BOS and OTCQX:ABSSF, and identifies three divisions: Rubber Solutions, Engineered Products and Defense Group. It describes custom rubber compounds, anti-vibration components and protective/survivability equipment, with headquarters in Newmarket and manufacturing in Canada and the United States. Parent-wide capacity is not Canadian-only production. Its three-division framing is superseded for financial reporting by the August 2026 release’s two segments.
