About TRIUMF
Canada's particle accelerator centre and national laboratory with advanced accelerator, isotope, materials and applied-technology infrastructure and a broad university and industry collaboration network.
Operating context
TRIUMF is a Canadian accelerator laboratory owned by a consortium of twenty-one member universities, rather than solely by the University of British Columbia. Its proton and neutron irradiation facilities provide radiation-effects testing for electronics and materials, with commercial beamtime and separately approved research access. Availability is the immediate constraint: the PIF/NIF page states that those facilities are unavailable from January 2026 through May 2027. A general site countdown gives April 30, 2027 as the end of the long shutdown, so a laboratory-wide date should not be substituted for a confirmed irradiation booking. Prospective space-electronics or other radiation-test users should contact Michael Trinczek at trinczek@triumf.ca about the required beam conditions, test plan and earliest facility-specific access.
