Operating context
Ontario Centre of Innovation offers several distinct commercialization and technology-adoption routes. The Critical Industrial Technologies initiative focuses on Ontario SMEs in mining, non-automotive advanced manufacturing, agri-food and construction, using areas such as AI, robotics, cybersecurity, quantum and advanced networks. Its program page separates development and commercialization support of up to $100,000 from technology-development-site access, talent internships, employee upskilling and SME-led sector-adoption projects of up to $1 million. General criteria include for-profit status, Ontario operations, fewer than 500 employees and a critical-technology roadmap, with additional stream-specific rules. A company should select a development, validation, workforce or consortium need before approaching OCI.
