About MarineLabs
Canadian ocean-data company operating marine weather and intelligence services for coastal and offshore decision-making.
Operating context
MarineLabs combines coastal sensor nodes, weather models and data services from Victoria. CoastAware provides real-time observations and forecasts, CoastInsights historical analysis, and BerthWatch integrates Kongsberg hardware with MarineLabs software for berth-depth monitoring. The company now also markets coastal sensing and data fusion for government maritime awareness, dark-vessel investigation and possible UxS alerts through an API. These security applications should be evaluated separately from the established weather-data workflow because the public page does not disclose threat-detection performance or a named defence deployment. A C$4 million investment from BDC and InBC announced in October 2025 supports scaling coastal AI. Port or government integrations need explicit station coverage, data latency, API rights and response responsibilities.
