About Innovation Saskatchewan
Innovation Saskatchewan is the Government of Saskatchewan agency responsible for advancing research, technology development and commercialization across the province's innovation economy.
Operating context
Innovation Saskatchewan supports the province’s technology ecosystem through startup programs, research funding and research-park infrastructure. For an early-stage supplier seeking an operational reference, Made In Saskatchewan Technology connects a Saskatchewan tech startup with an eligible public-sector, municipal, nonprofit or community partner. Its official application portal describes a nonrepayable lifetime maximum of $30,000, matched 1:1 by the pilot partner, with year-round submissions and quarterly external review. Approval therefore requires more than a technology pitch: a credible partner, pilot scope and matching resources are central. At institutional level, the 2026–27 budget formalizes $5.2 million annually for the expanded Innovation and Science Fund and support to six provincial research partners. The August 2026 Canadian Light Source amplifier commitment demonstrates this infrastructure role. These research allocations should be distinguished from MIST awards and from tax incentives administered by other ministries. MIST applications use the agency’s online portal, where a startup can establish its pilot partner and proposed matching contribution.
