About Innovate Calgary
Innovate Calgary is the University of Calgary's technology-transfer and business-incubation organization and operates an Aerospace Innovation Hub with accelerator programming, startup support, industry challenges and seed-funding activity.
Operating context
Innovate Calgary offers commercialization support through programmes including the Aerospace Innovation Hub (AIH). AIH provides a concrete route for aerospace founders to access prototyping equipment, workspace and advisers. Resident membership is listed at C$600 per month or C$7,200 annually; the C$3,600 annual non-resident route has a different service package. These paid memberships are separate from the competitive Aerospace Accelerator Program. The accelerator is a two-year, full-time Calgary programme starting January 2027, with up to C$200,000 in grant support, including one founder’s salary. Applicants must satisfy Canadian work-right, advanced technical expertise, ownership and company eligibility requirements, reside in Calgary and maintain a presence at AIH. University of Calgary affiliation is not required. The programme expects regular in-person participation, particularly during the first year. OCIF’s support for AIH and its named aviation collaborators establish a regional commercialization network, but do not promise procurement or customer adoption. The programme’s ownership and company-age/capital wording needs confirmation in borderline cases, as do grant agreement and intellectual-property terms.
