Operating context
IDEON Technologies uses passive cosmic-ray muons and other geophysical observations to build subsurface density models. REVEAL combines in-mine or borehole detectors, multi-physics inversion and 3D/4D visualization, including quantified uncertainty. Its August 2026 research expands the roadmap toward active, directed muon sources: an ELI-NP experiment tests adapted detectors, while a separate three-year Berkeley Lab-led ARPA-E project develops a transportable source.
