EvoLogics is a Berlin-based manufacturer of underwater acoustic communication and positioning systems, with a wider portfolio of uncrewed survey vehicles and sensor integration. Its S2C modems provide the acoustic data link; PRO, PRO USBL, MINI, TINY and OEM configurations offer different frequency bands, directivity, housings and integration options. The company also publishes EviNS networking software and development tools, and supplies surface gateways and positioning software. This makes its offering relevant to integrators connecting stationary instruments and mobile subsea assets, with the final network behaviour determined by the chosen hardware, firmware and application stack.
Systems and integration
Alongside acoustic modems and positioning networks, EvoLogics develops Sonobot surface survey craft and Quadroin underwater vehicles; the acoustic/software configuration is the relevant integration boundary for external sensor networks.
Operating context
EvoLogics offers several integration layers: configurable acoustic hardware, a command interface and developer tools, EviNS networking, and USBL Buoy/SiNAPS tracking and data forwarding. Public EviNS documentation describes relaying, path discovery and mobile ad-hoc operation, while the manufacturer’s current architecture page claims multi-node addressing/routing. Documentation age and product configuration matter: the public routing overview dates to 2018 and does not establish which options ship enabled in a current modem. Public research demonstrates capability at particular scales rather than a universal latency or capacity guarantee. A 2024 SWiG demonstration involving EvoLogics, Subnero, WSense and NORCE provides evidence of standardized positioning-message interoperability, with native routing, sensor payload formats and application interfaces outside that demonstrated scope.
TNM assessment
EvoLogics offers an evidenced route from acoustic components to programmable underwater sensor networks, supported by modem interfaces, public networking software and a surface gateway. An integrator can compare the full hardware, routing and data-export configuration against a packaged IoUT offering. The useful next conversation is about the required payload, mobile-node behaviour and security boundary under a defined water environment, rather than assuming headline range or a standards demonstration guarantees end-to-end compatibility.

Programmable underwater networking and developer software
Read technical summary
EviNS is a public event-driven framework for underwater acoustic sensor networks and positioning that can run on EvoLogics modem hardware or alongside DMACe emulation. Its routing documentation describes static and controlled-flooding relays, path discovery/relaying, acknowledgements, mobile ad-hoc nodes and star polling. The public command interface exposes network configuration and send/receive controls. EvoLogics also links ROS 1 and optional software-defined waveform tools. These provide an integrator’s networking/development route; they are not proof that every protocol or a third-party sensor driver ships enabled in every base modem.
Evidence of maturity
Public code and routing documentation, plus a configuration-specific published network case study. The routing overview dates to 2018; current shipping firmware/module support is a configuration question.
Commercial availability
EviNS source/documentation are publicly available. EvoLogics markets DMACe subscription and standalone options; modem options and integration support require confirmation.
Core features
Open event-driven EviNS framework with modem-hardware and emulator deployment.
Documented static, controlled-flooding and path-based relaying with acknowledgement options.
Mobile ad-hoc source/destination nodes and separately documented star polling.
Commands for send/receive, protocol selection, routing tables, neighbours, statistics and polling.
Official ROS 1 driver and optional user-defined-waveform SDM development tools.
DMACe offers virtual modem networks with propagation/collision/error/mobility simulation, as hosted VPN subscription or standalone Emulator Box.
Recorded applications
Developing and integrating networked underwater sensor applications.
Testing routing and application logic before acoustic hardware and field trials.

Configurable underwater acoustic modems using EvoLogics’ proprietary S2C technology, with PRO, PRO USBL, MINI, TINY and OEM builds. Frequency and directivity choices change the range/rate tradeoff: current examples include PRO 7/17 at up to 6.9 kbit/s and 8000 m, PRO 18/34 at up to 13.9 kbit/s with an explicitly corrected approximate 2000 m field-average range, and TINY 120/180 at up to 62.5 kbit/s and 300 m. The figures describe vendor-stated performance under their stated conditions, not guaranteed application throughput. USBL variants add positioning; optional standards support and developer features must be specified per model.
Evidence of maturity
Commercially marketed modem family with public interfaces; EU WiMUST reporting documents modem integration into a bounded multi-vehicle sea demonstration.
Commercial availability
Current configurable catalogue through EvoLogics sales/distribution; actual model, options, price and delivery schedule require a quote.
Core features
PRO 7/17: 7–17 kHz, hemispherical coverage, housing-dependent depth up to 6000 m for titanium/OEM transducer.
PRO 18/34: 18–34 kHz; current range notice replaces older 3500 m near-ideal listing with approximately 2000 m realistic average.
The USBL Buoy packages an acoustic transceiver, orientation sensing, dual GNSS, onboard computer, battery and wireless access point for tracking and data relay. SiNAPS provides server-side positioning and sensor-data processing with browser clients and customizable forwarding to external applications. Surface communications can use local WiFi, land-station radio and optional LTE. This is an evidenced sensor/vehicle-to-shore gateway and positioning layer; the selected acoustic family, firmware and software data contract determine compatibility.
Evidence of maturity
Currently marketed integrated gateway/software; separate industrial river case illustrates acoustic-to-buoy-to-server sensor architecture as an attributed vendor case study.
Commercial availability
Current product pages invite configuration/demo enquiries; no current public delivery lead time or standard external API service contract was established.
SiNAPS supports USBL, LBL and hybrid multi-target positioning and sensor input.
Browser clients on the local network; mission databases and customizable data forwarding.

Recent activity
Oct 9, 2026
On 9 October 2026 EvoLogics reported a harbour-protection trial at REPMUS 2026 in Sesimbra, Portugal. The system combined hydrophones, active sonar, seabed fibre sensing, cameras and AIS, with fibre and radio links to a central server. The report says the integrated system will be available in 2027; one possible diver contact was still being analysed. This is an attributed exercise and integration milestone, rather than a completed commercial acoustic-mesh deployment or independently established detection performance.
Acoustic modems, positioning software and gateways are currently marketed through direct sales and distribution. The separate harbour-protection system trialled at REPMUS 2026 is announced for availability in 2027.
Financing and disclosed activity
The European Commission lists a historical EUR 586,437.50 net EU contribution to EvoLogics under WiMUST grant 645141, within the project’s EUR 3,970,081.25 total. This was collaborative research support for 2015–2018; it is not a disclosed company valuation, equity round, current revenue or entire project award to EvoLogics.

Which current firmware, EviNS routing modules and modem options support the proposed mobile-node count and sensor payload, and what delivery, latency and duty-cycle data are available?
Current marketing describes multi-node routing, while the public EviNS routing overview dates to 2018 and published experiments are configuration specific. Shipping support and a relevant measured workload determine the integration effort.
02
What authentication, encryption, key-management and gateway export contract are provided in the quoted configuration, and which controls belong to the application integrator?
The product offers serial/Ethernet command interfaces and SiNAPS forwarding, but the inspected public documents did not establish a cryptographic profile or versioned external API contract. Robust acoustic transmission alone does not answer those questions.
03
Beyond the demonstrated SWiG positioning messages, which payload formats and network services interoperate with a specified third-party modem or sensor stack?
Subnero’s November 2024 demonstration names EvoLogics and WSense in standardized message exchange. That result does not establish interchangeable native routing, security, sensor adapters or application APIs.
