About Emera ideaHUB
Emera ideaHUB is a Halifax deep-tech incubator for physical-product ventures, providing prototyping infrastructure, engineering expertise, founder programs and commercialization support across cleantech, ocean technology, medtech and robotics.
Operating context
Emera ideaHUB is Dalhousie’s incubation route for founders developing physical products, with engineering support and mechanical, electrical and additive-manufacturing facilities. Its programs address different points in development: ideaDESIGN is a short design sprint, ideaBUILD supports the transition from concept to an operational prototype, and ideaBRIDGE is a competitive residency for manufacturing-oriented growth. The current ideaBUILD page welcomes Atlantic Canadian founders without a Dalhousie affiliation. It describes C$10,000 toward prototype materials, a 12-week bootcamp, a feasibility report, access to workspace and laboratories, and eight hours of external engineering support. The fall 2026 application window has closed, with the program scheduled from October 2026 to August 2027. The announced spring 2025 cohort demonstrates delivery with support from Emera, Invest Nova Scotia, ACOA and Dalhousie. Founders should select the program matching their prototype maturity and confirm equipment, supervision, IP and commercial-use arrangements before committing to a development plan.
