About DMZ
DMZ is Toronto Metropolitan University's technology-startup incubator, providing pre-incubation and eighteen-month incubation programs with tailored mentorship, investor access, workspace, growth support and specialized partner programs.
Operating context
DMZ is a Toronto Metropolitan University-affiliated technology incubator with a staged, equity-based pathway from a nine-month Pre-Incubator to an eighteen-month Incubator. It combines mentorship, customer and sales support, investor readiness, workspace and partner-led pilot opportunities; DMZ Ventures is its related investment arm under the university umbrella. The Incubator publishes an eighteen-month programme in exchange for 2.5% common-share equity, with no programme fees or board seats. On July 13, 2026, DMZ Ventures announced a $100,000 Dual-Use and Sovereign Tech Investment Prize for 3DBioFibR at Startupfest, subject to final investment terms, plus an accelerated Incubator pathway. This is a concrete dual-use investment example, while the main incubation offer remains broader.
