About Defence Research and Development Canada
Canada's national defence science, technology, and innovation organization, providing research, technical solutions, and expert advice to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces while collaborating with industry, academia, government, and allies.
Operating context
DRDC supplies defence and security science, technical advice and research support to DND, the Canadian Armed Forces and other public-security users. Its external collaboration routes include research agreements, cost-shared and in-kind projects, technology licensing and fee-for-service work. Contract opportunities are directed to CanadaBuys; IDEaS supports challenge-based R&D and CSSP supports collaborative safety and security research. Prospective partners can contact DRDCPartnerships-PartenariatsRDDC@forces.gc.ca to identify the relevant science team and access arrangement. Research collaboration does not itself confer procurement selection or unrestricted access to secure facilities.
