About Chantier Naval Forillon
Chantier Naval Forillon is a Québec shipyard that constructs, repairs and modifies working vessels from Gaspé and Rivière-au-Renard. Its portfolio spans commercial fishing boats, tugs, ferries and Canadian Coast Guard lifeboats and research vessels, combining hull production with naval engineering and project-specific systems integration.
Operating context
The Canadian Coast Guard’s 32m hybrid near-shore research vessel is under construction after October 2025 steel cutting, with fall 2027 delivery planned. Its design combines diesel-electric propulsion, battery storage, regenerative deck machinery and science spaces for five crew and six scientists. The project’s joint technical account separates CCG concept design, Robert Allan contract design and Forillon final/production design, with equipment and integrators selected during contract design.
