About Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute
Independent not-for-profit artificial-intelligence institute delivering research, talent development and applied AI support to organizations.
Operating context
Amii connects AI research with industry adoption through strategy, use-case prioritization and custom model development. Its current service description starts from measurable business value and provides access to scientific, project-management and resident expertise, with indicative timelines of about three months for strategy and twelve to fifteen months for development. Actual scope, cost and data arrangements need agreement. Two July 2026 announcements strengthen the institutional context but have different meanings: Alberta committed $50 million over five years, while Anthropic provided $1 million in API credits. The latter is in-kind service access, not cash, and neither announcement makes a prospective client automatically eligible for funding. A company should begin with its data, operational problem and desired performance measure.
