Public demand signal · Communications Security Establishment Canada
CSE identifies quantum-resistant cryptography as a capability that will define Canada's future digital security and reports briefings to prepare partners for the quantum computing threat to cryptography.
Source-backed fact
Government and critical-infrastructure operators must understand and manage the future risk that quantum computing poses to current cryptography, including inventory, migration planning, key management and interoperable protection of sensitive information.
Source-backed fact
Canada should be able to assess cryptographic exposure, prioritize migration, adopt quantum-resistant algorithms and maintain secure communications without losing operational continuity or assurance.

Defence Signals
The strongest signals are no longer just announcements of intent. Canada has produced live-fire counter-drone data, attached federal capital to quantum manufacturing qualification, moved its drone marketplace into visible supply arrangements, and advanced an Arctic corridor toward a national-interest decision. Allied programs show the same movement downstream. A software-only post-quantum inquiry names a transition constraint, spectrum-awareness systems are approaching units, a military paraglider has moved through purchase into operational use, and a high-energy laser has defeated three hostile drones in an active mission. None of this proves broad adoption, repeat performance or Canadian procurement outcomes. It does make the next evidence legible: measured limitations, qualified processes, usable supplier access, a fielding schedule, or repeat operational results. Those are the records worth following before capability claims harden into readiness assumptions.
