Supervised access to partner industrial, robotics, mobility, agriculture and building environments for testing connected products with private/public 5G and site-specific equipment. CENGN coordinates eligibility, project design, conditional co-funding and host delivery rather than supplying the applicant’s robot or sensor product.
Technical detail
Core features
CNIMI’s Drummondville industrial environment combines Ericsson private 5G SA n77 at 3.82GHz, positioning trials, robots and machine/sensor integration; its positioning package compares 5G IAP with UWB, BLE or RFID and supports ROS/IoT interfaces.
Bayview indoor positioning uses a separately specified network: n77 at 3.9GHz/80MHz, n78 at 3.41GHz, n261 at 28GHz and LTE Band14, with Ericsson REST, streaming and historical-data interfaces.
Waterloo combines indoor RoboHub and approved outdoor areas with n71/n41 outdoor and n78/n261 indoor configurations, partner robot/drone platforms and positioning equipment; radio coverage and platform access are site-specific.
Basic wireless testing typically supplies up to five SIMs and QoS measurement. Advanced adds agreed capacity and up to 10 consulting hours; premium may add up to 10 further hours, MEC or specialized facilities where offered.
Projects use agreed charters and reporting. Access is supervised; the guide excludes unrestricted facility modification and unsupervised testing, and specific packages exclude slicing, RedCap, outdoor access or external robots.

Evidence of maturity
CNIMI confirms the April 16, 2026 launch; Ericsson reports robot inspection/video, AI assembly inspection and smart-glasses demonstrations in its 2,800m² factory-lab. Waterloo independently confirms the robotics partnership. Approved 2026 participant projects establish selected work, not completed acceptance or a universal accuracy/latency threshold.
Commercial availability
Access is project- and host-dependent. Canadian firms with 499 or fewer full-time staff and TRL4+ technology apply for innovation/adoption/call streams, subject to evaluation, available facilities, cost sharing, membership fee and agreement. The SME generally retains IP unless otherwise agreed; reviewers/hosts receive scoped confidential access and public summaries exclude confidential material.
Integration and verification
Readiness
A technology readiness level is not established by the reviewed public sources.
Reviewed connections
No reviewed Mission area or released Defence need connection is currently published.

CNIMI’s French original dated April 16, 2026 confirms its partnership with CENGN and Ericsson to open a Drummondville living lab for private-5G-enabled industrial validation, including positioning, connected sensors and robotics. The host confirms the facility and access purpose; the announcement is not a certificate or an accepted participant production deployment.
Guide basic5G testing is self-directed with typically up to5SIMs, standardQoS and orientation; no network customization. Advanced access adds lab-capacity-dependent SIMs and up to10consulting hours. Premium adds MEC/specialized facilities where available, up to10more consulting hours and approved log requests. Supervised facility access excludes real-time troubleshooting, unsupervised entry and modifications.
